“to”, “two”
Pun
Act 3,
Scene 1
Lines 14-16

A discussion of a pun using "to" and "two" in myShakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, Scene 1.

Benvolio

And what to?

Mercutio

Nay, an there were two such, we should have none shortly,
for one would kill the other. Thou! Why, thou wilt quarrel

A very subtle pun. Mercutio picks up on the “to” in Benvolio’s expression, ”And what to?”, replying that if there were “two” like him, they would kill each other.
