Character Interview: Sly and Page
Act 1,
Scene 1

An interview with Sly and the page in Act 1, Scene 1 of myShakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.

Ralph: Welcome back, everyone. You may remember that Sly-- well, our Lord here-- and his wife have been watching the story along with the rest of you at home.

Sly: What?

Ralph: Well so, what do you think? You seem like you were nodding off a little bit there. Are you liking it all right?

Sly: Yes, byzantine, I do. A good matter, surely.

Ralph: A good matter? Oh, you mean like subject matter. You like what the story is about?

Sly: I do. Is there going to be more of it?

Page: My Lord, 'tis but begun.

Sly: 'Tis a very excellent piece of work indeed, Madam Lady. I just wish it were over. All right! Let's go.

Ralph: Yes. Yeah, we're going to need some more beer.

Sly: The cheap stuff, right?

Ralph: The cheap stuff, yeah. And you might as well bring whatever you got. Bring out a lot, yeah. OK, great. Thanks.

Sly: Good?

Ralph: Let's roll it.
