DAVINA: Thanks so much for joining us, Macduff. I know that there's a lot going on in your world. And I really appreciate you taking the time.
MACDUFF: Yeah, well, let's move it along.
DAVINA: I know that Duncan has been killed at the Macbeth castle. And there's so much I'd like to ask you, but we should probably just stick to the facts.
MACDUFF: And those are?
DAVINA: Well, we find you on your way to Fife, which is your home, I believe.
MACDUFF: That's right.
DAVINA: When you run into Ross, a fellow Thane who's speaking with an old man. And Ross asks how goes the world, sir.
MACDUFF: How goes the world? I think anybody can see that.
DAVINA: Yes, well between the death of Duncan and the weird weather and such, I guess that is a silly question. But he also asks if you know who killed Duncan, this more than bloody deed, as he calls it.
MACDUFF: It was Duncan's guards, the two that Macbeth killed.
DAVINA: Right. But why would they do that? What did they have to gain?
MACDUFF: They must have been paid to do it. Hired assassins. Malcolm and Donalbain, King's two sons, have fled, which puts the suspicion on them.
DAVINA: I see. So you're thinking that maybe Duncan's sons paid to the guards to kill their father, and I guess Malcolm had something to gain, since he was named heir to the throne. Though it seems weird that they would hire killers, and then flee the country. Doesn't it?
MACDUFF: Guess you'll have to ask them.
DAVINA: Oh. Well. Right. Well, so then, Ross assumes that the sovereignty, the kingship, will fall to Macbeth, is that right?
MACDUFF: He's already been named the next King, and he's gone to Scone for the ceremony.
DAVINA: Yes, and how did that naming happen? What was the process? Was this something decided at the Macbeth castle?
MACDUFF: I don't think that's any of your business, frankly.
DAVINA: Oh. Yeah. Okay. Well, Ross also wants to know where Duncan's body is.
MACDUFF: Carried to Colmkill, the sacred storehouse of his predecessors, and guardian of their bones. Can I go now?
DAVINA: Oh, sure. To Fife, right? If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you going to Scone for the ceremony?
MACDUFF: I do mind you asking.
DAVINA: Oh. Well, okay. Ross says he's going to Scone.
MACDUFF: Well, may he see things well done there. Adieu, lest our old robes sit easier than on you.
DAVINA: You sound a little worried about the future. That things may not go so well.
MACDUFF: Are we done here?
DAVINA: Yeah. We're done.
