RALPH: Welcome back. It looks like the battle will soon be over. Cassius is dead, and Brutus is making a final desperate attempt to defeat Antony. His officers and soldiers are loyal to the end. One of them even pretends to be Brutus to distract Antony's soldiers so that Brutus can make his escape. The trick succeeds, until Antony's soldiers bring the guy to Antony. Antony, of course, immediately recognizes that it's not Brutus that they've captured. For more on Antony's reaction, let's go to Servilia.
SERVILIA: Thanks, Ralph. As you just heard Antony, your soldiers have brought you the prize of a captured Brutus. But as you find out, it's actually one of Brutus's men, and not Brutus himself.
ANTONY: Yes, that's a pretty common ploy in battle. The soldiers don't really know who is who, so it's pretty easy to fool them.
SERVILIA: Well, the prisoner tells you that Brutus is safe, and that no enemy will capture the noble Brutus alive. The gods defend him from so great a shame, he says. When you do find him, alive or dead, he will be found like Brutus. Like himself. What do you think that means?
ANTONY: Like Brutus. Like himself. I don't know.
SERVILIA: So what do you do with the guy?
ANTONY: Oh, the prisoner? We keep him safe. Treat him well.
SERVILIA: Really?
ANTONY: Yes, of course. The battle is all but over, and I'd rather have such loyal men become my friends than remain my enemies. That's how things are really done in Rome. Once enough blood is spilled, it's time to move on, form new alliances. These men know that if they've been defeated, they need to get on the side of the winner. Survival.
SERVILIA: So what's next for you?
ANTONY: Well, my soldiers need to press on, and find Brutus, alive or dead. And then they should bring word to me Octavius's tent. Can we all just meet there?
SERVILIA: Sure. We'll see you there.
