Character Interview: Horatio
Act 4,
Scene 6

An interview with Horatio in Act 4, Scene 6 of myShakespeare's Hamlet.

SARAH: I think we've got some big news. I'm here with Horatio who's just received a rather long message from Hamlet, an extraordinary account of pirates on the high seas. Horatio, can you tell us what you've heard?

HORATIO: OK, sure, yeah. Let's see. "Hey, Hor, Oh, he calls me a Hor, H-O-R, short for Horatio. "What up, dog? What are you up to? You're never going to believe this. I'm on a boat—"

SARAH: Perhaps it would be best if you were just to summarize the text.

HORATIO: Oh, sure, OK. So, Hamlet was headed out to sea towards England, when his ship was attacked by pirates.

SARAH: Oh my. Is he all right?

HORATIO: I got a message didn't I?

SARAH: Oh, thank heavens.

HORATIO: Somehow, he ended up on the pirate boat. And I don't know if he got into a fight with them or he joined them or what. And because he's a prince, they're bringing him back to Denmark. He's probably going to give them some cash or jewels and stuff. Anyways, I'm supposed to meet up with him soon. He says he has another story to tell me that will blow me away. Like the pirate story isn't amazing enough? Something more exciting, so I've got to bounce.

SARAH: Do keep us informed.
