What's Happening?
Act 1,
Scene 5
SARAH: After the ghost departs at the coming of the dawn, Hamlet returns to his friends and companions. He’s quite rattled by what’s happened.
RALPH: And with good reason, Sarah! If the ghost's story is true, and Claudius gets word of Hamlet's encounter with his father's spirit, then he’ll be in real trouble; and so Hamlet swears the others to silence.
SARAH: Hamlet also warns his friends that he’s going to pretend to be a little crazy in the days to come; this is part of his strategy to throw off the King’s suspicions.
RALPH: How will that help, Sarah?
SARAH: We’ll just have to wait and see, Ralph.
