"thy chink, to blink"
Wordplay
Act 5,
Scene 1
Line 176

An explanation of the internal rhyme on “blink” in Act 5, Scene 1 of myShakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Bottom (as Pyramus)

Show me thy chink, to blink through with mine eyne.

In addition to its use of internal rhyme on "chink" and "blink," this line also features an alternative meaning of “blink.” In Shakespeare’s day blink meant to glance or peep at something. It was only in the 19th century that it took on its modern meaning of briefly closing the eyes.
